Book a skin assessment with a highly qualified skin care therapist. All the listed conditions are treated at Best You Medical Wellness and Aesthetics by Dr Heidi Frere and our highly qualified skincare therapist, using our state-of-the-art aesthetic imaging and analysis system and medical class lasers.
What can you expect in the Aesthetic consultation? Dr Frere will most likely ask you if you want to look less tired, less angry, less sad, less saggy or if you want to look younger or more attractive. There is always a dream vs the reality. There are patient needs and patient wants.
With an approach focused on your areas of dissatisfaction, a treatment plan can be created to address your unique issues. Dr Frere will explain the ageing process and how it has affected you as an individual. The impact of fat and bone density loss and the triangle of youth are some of the topics for discussion.
The Smart Mirror is an innovative and versatile device, used by cosmetic experts and medical aesthetic practitioners. The Smart Mirror allows doctors and skin experts to analyse the facial skin of their patients with accurate results and an analysis that can be relied upon when administering treatment to the patient. The machine has 10 analysis modes included in the software, which are performed using a powerful 15 megapixel lens. It really is quite simple: the patient puts her face in front of the camera and with just one click we initiate the smart analysis. This process takes 10 seconds for the facial capture and an additional 20 seconds for the actual skin analysis itself.
The results of the skin analysis provides extensive information and our skin care therapist will then make recommendations on the most efficacious skin care products based on the findings. We are able to track your progress with each treatment option that has been chosen.
Skincare conditions are addressed with either an individual treatment or with a combination of treatments, depending on each person’s specific needs. By combining skin treatments with laser therapies you will achieve far superior results than stand alone treatments.
Every procedure to inject soft tissue materials involves a certain amount of risk. It is important to discuss the possibility of this in your initial consultation with Dr Frere. Follow your pre- and post-care instructions and be sure to arrange a follow up consultation.

Chemical Peel
Chemical peels are acids of different strengths and formulations used for their resurfacing benefits on the skin
The brainchild of Belgian born Dr Phillips De Prez, is the combination of the SKin Tech Easy TCA peel and microneedling. A few more days of downtime with gentle peeling and flaking of the skin, to reveal a more youthful and glowing skin.
This treatment works by enhancing the penetration of a chemical peel into the skin by combining it with a micro-needling session.
This combination causes an aggressive stimulation of new collagen, elastin and fibroblasts in the dermis for long term anti ageing benefits.
Shedding the build up of dead cells with visible peeling. Down- time ranges between 5-7 days, thereafter to reveal a healthy smooth skin.
Carboxy Therapy
This involves injecting small amounts of Carbon dioxide beneath the skin to break down fat deposits and stimulate collagen production. Carboxytherapy treats the following:
- cellulite
- dark circles under-eye
- thin skin
- wrinkles around the eyes, face, neck & hands
- stretch marks

Micro-needling
Micro-needling is an effective form of Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT)
Aging causes a decline in collagen in the skin which results in the formation of fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. Skin can also lose collagen due to injuries, acne scarring, weight and hormone fluctuations causing stretch marks.
The principle of creating a controlled, physical injury to the skin was first invented by German Dermatologist, Ernst Kromayer in 1905. In 1996, Dr Des Fernandes, a plastic surgeon, then pioneered the procedure making it one of the safest and most effective ways to treat ageing skin. The use of hypodermic needles for medical purposes dates back to 100 BC with the use of acupuncture.
The micro-injury promotes a natural inflammatory response resulting in new collagen formation. “Microchannels” created in the skin by the needling device allow active serums to penetrate the skin. These serums contain nutrients important for the collagen and elastin formation resulting in a tighter more youthful and glowing skin.
Micro- needling is used for its anti-ageing benefits, improving scar appearance, fine lines, skin texture, enlarged pores, stretch marks, acne, pigmentation and hair loss. Micro-needling can be used alone or in combination with mesotherapy, chemical peels, carboxytherapy and LED (light) therapy.
Micro needling is not a quick fix. You may need a course of treatments to realize the results. The treatment needs to be done safely with sterility closely adhered to and using the correct depth.
